After taking early retirement I relocated to southern Spain, in the beautiful province of Murcia. Here one can experience all of the seasons in one day! Snow on the mountains in the early morning ,flowers in the garden at coffee time, sun on the sea at midday and later in the cooler evenings the log fire was need. Light and colour are the most important influences on my art. Travelling across Spain with its huge landscapes, each province completely different in its terrain, light and colours provided a myriad of subjects. The terracotta colours Cuenca, the White windmills in Toledo against turquoise skies, the sunlight and shadows of the ancient cities!

After ten years I have returned to East Anglia to live. Now I have the inspiration of giant fenland skies reflected in the water ways. An entirely different light and set of colours!

I enjoy using mixed media to make my art using colour to express the emotion and happiness we get from our natural surroundings.

My art is influenced by my county of birth, Northumberland and the Cambridgeshire Fens where I now live.

The beautiful beaches of the North East coast with their white sands and castles inspire me to paint seascapes. The big sky and flat landscape of the Fens provide a very different subject for my paintings. Forays into the Fens give me inspiration for painting the local flora and fauna. I hope my paintings will bring some of the colour and emotion of my world into your home.
